"Drop it, Todd," you might say, "he's got a lovely mountain named for him in beautiful Colorado!"-but no, I shall not. My blogs are sort of meant to be controversial. I don't want to offend anyone. I do want people to see that I don't make this wacky stuff up though.
Albert Pike (December 29, 1809–April 2, 1891) was an attorney, soldier, writer, andFreemason. Pike is the only Confederate military officer or figure to be honored with an outdoor statue in Washington, D.C. (in Judiciary Square).

Albert Pike had in the interim joined a Masonic lodge and become extremely active in the affairs of the organization, being elected Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite's Southern Jurisdiction in 1859.[citation needed] He remained Sovereign Grand Commander for the remainder of his life (a total of thirty-two years), devoting a large amount of his time to developing the rituals of the order.[citation needed] Notably, he published a book calledMorals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in 1871, of which there were several subsequent editions.
The theological dogma of Albert Pike is laid out in the Instructions issued by him on July 14, 1889, to the 23 Supreme Councils of the world: "That which we must say to the crowd is: We worship a God, but it is the God one adores without superstition. To you, Sovereign Grand Instructors General, we say this, that you may repeat it to the Brethren of the 32nd, 31st, and 30th degrees: The Masonic religion should be by all of us initiates of the high degrees, maintained in the purity of the Luciferian doctrine. If Lucifer were not God, would Adonay, whose deeds prove his cruelty, perfidy and hatred of man, barbarism and repulsion for science, would Adonay and his priests, calumnate him? Yes, Lucifer is God, and unfortunately Adonay is also God. For the eternal law is that there is no light without shade, no beauty without ugliness, no white without black, for the absolute can only exists as two Gods; darkness being necessary to light. The doctrine of Satanism is a heresy; and the true and pure philosophic religion is the belief in Lucifer, the equal of Adonay; but Lucifer God of Light and God of Good, is struggling for humanity agaisnt Adonay; the God of darkness and evil."
